weeell... we havent really done anything today. except more shopping on oxford street, but thats not really relevant. slept in until 10 (looovely), and then went out for breakfast at our little pub again. im sad that the blond bartender wasnt there. i liked him.

wandered around places of relevance as well, just to see if there was any parties or parades or anything of that nature happening.

there weren't.

now i know what laura meant when she said that london doesnt really do anything for st patty's day. yeah, the fountain at trafalgar square was green. that was pretty cool, and i got a picture of it and everything, but that was it. a green fountain. thats all.

we got tired of looking, so we went to the fish and chips place in hammersmith that we loved on the 2nd or 3rd day we were here. mmmm yummy yummy yummy. good food day, just not excellent... doing stuff day.

i think we're just going to end up staying at the little pub in our hostel tonight. im disappointed at london. it should have done better on such a wonderful holiday.

MAGICAL TOUUURRR!!!

sooo much history. i love that part of being here. i know that these things have a history, but hearing it while looking right at it and being near it is so much more... relevant. anyways.

first stop was stonehenge, which i absolutely loved, despite it being so cold 5 of my appendages fell off and i was forced to reattatch them. i actually really liked the automated tour thing, because you could stop listening to things you didnt care about and press to get more info on things you did care about. didnt know the myth about king arthur and merlin with the stones, BUT I DO NOW!

ahem. then we went to glastonbury. climbed up the tor (*pant pant wheeze wheeze stumble crap collapse*). took us about half an hour. horrible to climb up it, but at the top i just pictured myself at avalon, and the water flowing around that hill, and oooh it was beautiful. got some good pictures there, despite the wind trying to throw me off of it. then we went down to the abbey, which we didnt actually spend that much time in, but the ruins there was pretty cool. kat and i got our pictures taken looking dead in front of the "king arthur and his queen's remains were discovered here blah blah blah" plaque. amusing minus the whole muddy grass bit. went into covent gardens. tasted the water where the chalace was supposedly buried. tasted a whole lot like licking a metal pole, but the guardens were pretty.

then we went to see avebury and the avebury stones. not quite as impressive as stonehenge, but still interesting. would have been better had it not started pouring, but it was still nice just the same.

aaand now our pizza is here, so i must dash. really loved today.

awwww its daddy's birthday today, and im not theeere. that makes me homesick. im thinking of you lots and lots bubby, and i hope today was great.

hmm what did we do today...

well. there was the changing of the guards this morning (which was pretty much the same as at home, except with a castle as a backdrop instead of... not a castle). then we tubed it down to the londond eye and rode on that for a bit. got excellent shots of big ben and the city from up there. there was a random frisbee game going on in the field below us, which was pretty cool.

then we went out to leicester square and bought tickets to FAME! I tried to call laura to see if she could come too, but her mobile wasnt with her, and i didnt have her work number with me, so i didnt buy her ticket. boo on a stick for not seeing her. but oohhh, my god. Fame was SO GREAT. It gave me chills, and made me want to do one of those high kicks when walking down the street and start singing. (which i did, about 5 times on the walk back to the tube).

but now im SO tired, and i have to get up at 6 tomorrow morning to do the magical tour with astral travels (sooooooo excited to see stonehenge and the tor finally!!!) so i must be off, and i think im going to forgo laundry and food in favour of sleep, because i value sleep above all other things, and im just not getting enough of it this trip.

went into oxford todaay.

walked through christ church, which was so beautiful. the windows were breathtaking. it was more of a 20 minute walk through than a spend all day there kind of thing, but that was ok. only cost me £2.

in contrast, i spent SO MUCH MONEY on really nice stuff, but very random in its niceness. shopping in oxford is dangerous, because it all seems so reasonable, until you convert it into canadian and ask yourself "do i really need another sweatshirt for 60 bucks canadian?"

tried to go down to the river to steer the little gondolas (cant remember the exact word for this, even tho kat and sarah kept reminding me). they were closed by the time we got there though. watched the duckies fighting in the water for a bit, got too cold, then went to try on prom dresses. (tee hee, i love dress shopping).

saw lots and lots of british university boys, basically. *swoon* definitely worth it in the long run. they were EVERYWHERE. and boy watching in oxford: priceless. theres many things money cant buy. for everything else, you're basically screwed.

ooooh the shopping.

we went to petticoat lane market this morning, which was really really random, but i really liked it. such cutesie little stalls with random little british hawkers selling their wares. reminded me of the flea market, only british.

then tubed it all the way over to camden to meet laura at camden market. got SO lost trying to find her, and showed up 45 minutes late. she had already gone to her african drumming class (which we missed, and im sad about that). we wandered around on our own for a little bit. it is so... something. it was like the petticoat market, only 10 times bigger and very very permanent. the shops were built missing one wall so the shoppers could just drift in from outside without having to go through doors. i loved it.

finally found the african drumming class (with only 20 minutes left of the 2 hour class) and so we watied around until it was done. finally met up with laura and then played around with the drums a little bit. i wish i had gotten to actually do the class, but i dont know that kat an sarah would have liked it. oh well.

then we went to a little store called cyberdog with laura. she gave me mono, and then we went out to dinner. didnt stay long, but it was fun to see her for the few hours i did. i think we might meet up with her on tuesday or wednesday night for a show or something. we'll see.

ooh. we have a random extra person in our room again. but he showed up at 2 in the morning, and was hiding in his bunk when we left this morning, and was GONE when we got back. no luggage, no sheets, no usage of bathroom. i dont understand. oh well, sketchy people are my kind of people.

uurgh surrounded by people speaking a foreign language. im thinking spanish, but that could be a guess.

anyways. i am... so tired. spent all of today wandering around. we went down to highgate cemetary and got a guided tour of the west cemetary. the man giving the guided tours was kind of... interesting. but the cemetary was so beautiful. i really wished i could have just gone on my own to wander around in there, but i dont think it was an option. oh well, it was beautiful just the same. after the tour we wandered around highgate. such a cutsie little town. i think that if i ever moved to london, i'd want to live there. its so adorable.

went downtown to see picadilly circus, and i was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer wall to wall PEOPLE. the shopping was awesome, but far too expensive for my blood to actually buy anything. we hung out around the mall for a bit and watched the local rich kids videotaping themselves do tricks on bikes down a set of stairs. so random. then we went out to dinner at TGI Fridays. sooooo good.

after that, we went back out to picadilly to see the lights at night, then headed home on the tube.

i am tired now. i would call home but the stupid collect number i keep trying to call says that my number isnt a valid one. hmmph. i've only called it 4 times already.

slept in until 9 this morning (excellent). we made a group decision that since we couldnt make it in time to the continental breakfast which runs until 9:30, we'd go check out a pub that sells cheap breakfasts that a guy at the hostel suggested to us. sooooo gooood fooooood. and cheap. mmm.

went to hyde park, which is ten times more beautiful than central park if you ask me. windy as hell though. the wind literally broke my umbrella in 2 places.

wandered through there for hours, then walked up to H&M, where I almost bought a £30 jacket, but decided against it (it was so pretty though. :( ). then we walked over to harrods. that place... is intense. someone was telling me that harrods claims to sell everything, and that a president once asked the manager of harrods if he could buy an elephant, and the manager got it for him.

got CRAZY lost trying to find kat's old residence when she came here for her exchange 2 summers ago, but managed to find the crepe place after about an hour of lost wanderings. it was most definitely worth it. mmmmmm crepey goodness...

random guys on the tube speaking some strange language. i love that about this place. everywhere you go, there's someone on the streets speaking a language and from a place you've never heard of.

still alive. went to see the tower of london today! random little guys in funny costumes. loooots of pictures, but it was pretty, i couldnt help it. also saw tower bridge. its very... baby blue. it looks more not so baby blue in the pictures. quite funny.

we wanted to see templar church from the davicci (cant SPELL) code book, but its only open to the public between 3 and 4 pm, and we didnt make it back there in time.

uhmm... what else. very good FREE continental breakfast. and we made bagel sandwiches with jam (mmmmmm) for lunch, and at the tower of london the guy checking kats bag said "I think you've squished your doughnut there miss. you'll need to buy a new one."

we have a random roomate now. shes been staying at the globetrotter for 6 months (!?!?!) now.

doing the jack the ripper tour tonight. which should be exciting.

MISS YOU ALL LIKE CRAZY. email me. i get lonely.
